Glue the Spines Together

At this point the spines are held together at the top end but are free at the bottom. If you dab glue where each of the 4 spines touch each other, you can make the central core stronger. Do this now. You can do this as much or as little as you like. It is optional because the central core is stiff enough even without this extra gluing
